Between the Lines

Quieted

I traveled in thought,
the distance too short to
absorb the reality
that sets us apart.

I feel the darkness
that consumes when your eyes
rest upon mine
making me wish I could
be the comfort needed,
but knowing I am only
a temporary fill.

How can one speak to that?
Why can't you read my silence
and understand the depth
of feeling hidden there,
wanting to be heard, felt,
but quieted by the fear
that it would only bring
an end to the what if's...

And I live for them,
those what if's,
dreaming them alive at night,
pretending beyond today...
seeking to bring you
into my tomorrows...

but often wondering
if I could ever learn
to let go~~~

Your writing always touches my heart, M~.  I have known eyes like that--so compelling, absorbing.  Matter-of-fact, I found myself holding on much longer than was healthy for me, blinding me to other blessings.  I wish you all the happiness.

You write so well!

Those What Ifs are what keep us thinking we
can, or it will....  I have walked that road,
many times.

A lot of truth in what Magnus says here! Without "What ifs?" where would discovery be?
Again, let me say how I enjoy your writing and thinking.

Beautifully written. I know this feeling of tenuous balance on a slack rope---it's risky, it's uncomfortable, it's exhausting, but jumping off is a frightening option.

Excellent!

This is a beautifully expressed emotion I can relate to.
Very touching.

True love never dies
despite time and distance
True love is forever in the eyes
of the lover without resistance…

Loved these lines

be the comfort needed,
but knowing I am only
a temporary fill.

The "what ifs" are so seductive...sigh. Job well done. You sure touched me.

Sometimes we never let go, even though we're gone.  I wonder if we ever do learn to do this well, and who dreams without the dreams of "what-if's"?

I thought this was beautiful.

Good.
You write better when not just
addressing yourself.
