Tiara’d Crowns [for the over 40 crowd] #1

You know them,
they who deserve a lilting,
tilting sparkle upon their crown,
who adjust their well worn tiaras
over the creases that reach from
their smiling eyes to a graying hairline…

you know them.

That woman in your life, the one
who gumbied through your trials
and tribulations, who force-fed you
some truths that you hauled out
to the dump, cussing all the way….

but you came around with the sole apology
being that you showed up on time for supper.

You know them.

This girl in your life, the one you catch
dancing with a broomstick, because
you’re too tired to make magic…
she’s the one who will still dance
in your dreams…

you know them.

You see her, and make no mistake,
her tiara is the brightest, even if held tight
to her wispy crown with bobby pins,
or a shell comb; she, who believed in all your fantasies,
even when they were wrong, and even when
she won’t be here to bosom your shame,
her blood beats on in your line.

See the young girl dancing…
your child of earth-love.

Ready her tiara for a long life,
and make sure
you set the diamonds tight.

OMG!  This must be the day of masterful writes.  I haven't read one today that I didn't want to keep and treasure. Here you go again, lining my shelves with magic.  Thank you, Sunshine.   When, if, things slow down for you, drop me an e-mail!  I think about you often, and believe it or not, still take an occasion to try to master the song I began writing.

Well, I know this was intended for those over the age of 40, but I thought I'd pop in because the title intrigued me! Flirty 2

~ and may the diamonds in your tiara be set tight for life!

A wonderful write!

Linda

This is very good. Seems you've
been thinking about an earlier subject. . .

Now I know why I never wear a tiara...and those gowns!  The only ones that fit me are those empire waist things and then I just look like J. Edgar Hoover when he called himself Rose.  Echhh...what's a fellow to do???

Yep. I know of them, I know them sometimes I've been one of them. Excellent job with this poem it's so light and romantic despite the grey hair.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
