Just Now

Just now,
the breath of life,
the silken nadir of being,

(burnished and sacrosanct),

was immersed within your oration.
The self-deception of summer's affliction was gone,
and cerulean lambrequins of regret,
of wretchedness,
came to asperse our voiceless truths.
Concealed by these opaque assurances of abhorrence,
I withered.

Denied your embrace,

(though a remembrance of your lips still burns within my words),

storm clouds gathered,
as my clenched hand opened softly beneath the despondent torrent of your farewell.
Let lissome tears fall,
for none will see their sculpted tracks upon these cheeks.
Into hurts’ maelstrom let whorl heartache.
Naught bridges this bitter divergence.

Plaited into the muddled ridges of chagrin,
quivers dogmatic clouds of precipitation.
Inasmuch as the deluge,
gibbers over my declining hues of aureate and ashen self-control,
I can not but feel disturbed by this departure of tenderness.

Somewhere above,
sea gulls thrash upon chalky wings,
silhouetted against this injurious tempest.
Vertigo disburses their wounds;
oh how I wish it could be so for me.
In the velvety crux of such vapors,
midst the azure of lightening,
I’d seek the stroke,
which could sear your goodbye,
from consciousness.

EV2,

I have to admit that I had to look up some vocab!  Well worth it!  The words you chose are perfection as is the manner in which you presented it.  This is truly a work of soul and art.  It is good to read you again.  Again, I am astonished at how quickly your writing has gone from good to amazing.  You're just amazing!

Oh, how I love to read your poetry. It speaks to my very soul. It stirs the blood and floods this reader with emotion.

Your language is richly descriptive and all your poems are both compelling ~ and captivating...
