Kokopeli dancers
   bend flute notes,
cascading
       heartbeats
into
a
confluence

rivers of passion flowing
up, down, in surround sound,
into hidden crevices
of the mind and soul

~unseen...only felt~

and above the cliffs under shadow of night
a flight
of dreamers,
  midnight screamers sing
sway me, play me,
in beat of heart
convey me

~sighing, crying, dying
to be re-born, a phoenix
~everlasting~

my kokopeli dancer
bends dreams
into harmony and synchronicity,
encompasses the circle which is
...life...
and the sight of a dove in love
seeking the clouds above
(where even the rainbow dares to show)
can lighten the heart,
cause it to release cloudbursts
in a never-ending deluge of

memories
~holding onto memories~
   returning gifts of love,
feathered moments
which fell from above
(where your heart resides)

ride the winds, ride the winds
of change,
   slip into my veins
release pain’s chains
   seep deep
into the marrow of me
       so I can see

~God~

as the sacred fires burn tonight
in pounding feet in beat of Earth’s heart
and time...
love travels the rhyme lightly in my mind
and dances with spirits of old
so bold (not 'neath cowering shadows)
of untold millions speaking in rhyme

~it is time, it is time~

to circle the globe called Earth in remind

put down the hate put down the weapons
put down all the things that keep you
from the gateway to Peace on Earth

and enter into the slipstream
of Love,
where you needn’t be blind or deaf
to catch the tingle of an approaching storm,
to feel the rise of hair,
the taste of ionic change as you
breathe in the tiniest moments of Life
see and hear

the essence

as it surrounds you even when
your eyes and ears are handicapped
by excessive worldly input

and all the while,
kokopeli dancers can be seen
bending dreams into reality,
cascading millions of heartbeats
into a river of

One.

Yes!  And, I especially liked the ending, too, Kacy!  I could envision the dance.   ....jo

Aha! I do recall reading this all-encompassing and spiritied write of yours before! My youngest daughter has a tatoo of kokopelli. She got it unbeknownst to me when she was a "spirited" teenager! lol

I thoroughly enjoyed the poem and the closing lines brought your words all home!

"and all the while,
kokopeli dancers can be seen
bending dreams into reality,
cascading millions of heartbeats
into a river of

One."

It is always great to hear your thoughts.  I too am glad you reposted this.  It is a much different train of thought than much of your writing.  I found it very upbeat and warming.  Ken

This is my favourite of all of your poems that I have read(I think, it is difficult to remember them all at once).  Beautiful!  I don't know what kokopeli dancers are, but I was swayed and swept up by the music in your poem and felt that I was dancing along with them.  I also loved the format and rhyme (and I am not usually a lover of rhyme) and the way it all blended in to what I felt was the climax of

God
essence
one

beautiful write...anyone who can use synchronicity properly in a poem has my vote seriously, this was a lovely thought-filled write.  Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was waiting to reply to this because I have a handpainted stone with the kokopeli on it and when I first saw it, from the Seneca Nation (Iroquois) here, I had no clue what any of the icons meant.

After studying each of them there in the shop, yes, I felt closest to this one.

And that is my way of saying I adore this.

Wow!  One for my library for sure!  I think the Kokopeli's music is something everyone should hear.  Wonderful expression, Midnitesun!

Kokopelli is a god of fertility.  May the world ripen with love in the reaches of minds and hands.    Go girl...teach the world to sing!

The last verse of your poem is like a benediction...
