Recipe for Happiness
11 January 2006

It’s simply
about joining
them (like dots), really
. . . the good moments,
I mean.

It can be done, you know.

(I had lots of them
today
- in between, well . . .
The Others.)

You just need to hem them
and then tug them a little
especially at the corners
to cover The Others
and then
stitch them
together
quickly
and
neatly

or
as quickly
and as neatly
as you can

and Bob is your friend.
You see, he can’t be your uncle
because nobody – or almost nobody -
has an Uncle Bob.
Raise your hand those with an Uncle Bob?
. . . You see, very few of you
have an Uncle Bob
so he will have to be your friend
- except, of course, for those of you
who have a real Uncle Bob.

Now,
with The Others
stitched safely away,
and your good friend, Bob,
. . . what more could you possibly want?

LOL, really. I had an uncle Bob, though.

smiling wide...

I could have an Uncle Bob--except, that while is name is Robert, Robert David--they call him "R.D".

That seemed to fit in better with the Texas country language of the rest of the family--

My father's name was Wilmer.

His mother's name was Myrtle.

I have an aunt "Lucille"
I also had an "Uncle Thurman"
and an "Uncle Lloyd"

I guess Robert David was too pedestrian, so they shrugged and called him "R.D" so that the Texas drawl accent could be continued.

and I am going to stitch this one up quick...connect the dots before the Others fray the seam.

Much enjoyed this, Owl. Great advice.

Thanks, Midnitesun, Tracie and Serenity Blaze.  I loved all of your responses.

Wow, you are lucky Midnitesun, and you are nearly lucky Serenity Blaze, and Tracie, like me, not so lucky with the Uncle Bobs!

Glad you are stitching the good moments up quickly, Serenity Blaze.  Don't let The Others get in!

I am not sure
of what drew this poem
to me,

perhaps the . . .

or perhaps it is because
my seed

and theirs

has a very real
Uncle Bob...

Keeping this one, m'friend.

It matters not this distance now from Yesterday's Love KRJ

I have no uncle Bob.  My dads name was
Robert, but yet they called him by his middle name Paul....

Enjoyed your recipe very much!  Nicely done.

Thanks, Sunshine and Gentle Spirit.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And Bob's your uncle, Sunshine - or rather, theirs!
