five in the morning
clear sweet notes of jazz
from an apartment above me
low husky laugh
I keep my eyes closed
the bed is warm
the blanket soft
the dream of sleep
holds me
lulls me
the bony cat smells bad
damn thing won’t cuddle
wonder why he sleeps with me

I can hear the “Blues” in your words.  A little "12-Bar Blues" in the early morning.
Great write.  I’m hoping for more of the same.

Lady -- you have such a great wit!  I like your poetic style, too.  It was almost like I could hear you say the words.   ....jo

Thank you all so much for your lovely words of encouragement.

I have published Dominique, but not this poem.
