Third Dream About You Since Your Death on 28 April 2002
30 July 2005

. . . for a moment
we were there
in tune
cantering
one body
one soul
one understanding
one love
as only horse and mother can be  . . .

Just as a paraplegic dreams of running, it's not surprising you dream of riding. Good job with this.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thanks for your response, Kethry.  However, the strange thing was, I wasn't riding my late horse, Flicka.  Somehow I was effortlessly keeping up with him, but I don't particularly remember running.  We were as one body, but I was next to him, not in him.  It was the way I was when I walked him for the last 10 years of his 37½ life (after a leg injury, from which he recovered completely, but I retired him as I was afraid I would damage his leg after his 10 month rest that the vet ordered).  When I walked him, we talked about all sorts of things - like the revolution of the earth round the sun to create the seasons, and the rotation of the earth on its axis to cause day and night, and the meaning of the word "succulent" with regard to grass he was grazing.

Owl

It is obvious from your comment, that you and the horse had an extraordinary connection...I think the dream shows that you still do!

Today I only wish for sleep, but Owl? If I could sleep AND dream like this, I believe I could jump rivers.

This was short, but how perfectly the brevity encapsulates the fleeting etheric quality of dreamtime.

Enjoyed.

Oh, Martie.  You are so right.  We did and we do and we always will.  He is buried at a stableyard on a huge piece of land with lots of paddocks and I planted a plane tree and a heart-shaped flower bed bordered by white alyssum and grass all around them and I have a Thinking Stone and 2 little painted garden signs - one with Flicka's Garden of Tranquility and the other with Flicka's Thinking Stone and every week I drive the 3/4 hour into the country and tend his garden, and every time I am there he brings me the most unbelievable peace.  I talk to him from everywhere else, but it is there that I feel the closest to him.

Serenity Blaze, if you had known Flicka, he would have loved all your troubles away.  He did that, you know, and not just to me.

Trust me when I tell you that if you believe that Flicka walks beside you - he will always be there this I know to be true from experience.  They go in body, but never from our hearts or minds, and that is what keeps the bond forever tight.  I loved this poem.  Thank you.

This is deep, and it's shocking when you find it is written about a horse.  It must have been sad to lose someone.  I am a pet lover, so I can relate to a loss so great.

Loved it!

I think sometimes we go into another dimension in our dreams where we are with our beloved pets...I do.  I felt the love you have for your friend in this dream.   ...jo

Thank you Kristabell.  Every moment with him was cherished.  Riding him every day when he was alive and visiting him and walking him every day after his leg injury (from which he recovered completely, but I retired him then) and grooming him, doing the three buckets of his feed for the next day and most of all talking to him was the highlight of my every day.

Thank you Mysteria for the grateful tears that flowed when I read your response.

Thank you Magnus.  There are colleagues of mine who wouldn’t agree with you, but it is good to know that you find my thoughts interesting.

Thank you Anne Shiever.  My horse was my life even more as a companion, friend, child, shoulder to cry on, than as a riding horse, though I loved and lived to ride him too.

Thank you Dominique-Simone.

Thank you iliana for understanding.
