Heading to China

My quill makes indents once more
The words that spew from the mouths of the speechless
Are drained from my pen
Staining the paper with their words
Occasionally I ask them all to be quite
So that I may sit here with my sanity
Though time passes by
I can not see it though I know it has
I always seem to find my way back to the pen
Some call me preacher man
Others call me an idealist fool
No matter what they choose to call me
In my heart I know what I do is right
They have spit in my face
Broken the windows in my vehicle
My life has been threatened
With all these happenings is it any wonder why I request a moment to myself
I close my eyes trying to find what is left of me
Instead of finding memories of childhood fun
Or memories of teenage triumphs
I see the bodies of those people who could not choose to have a moment to themselves
My heart falls back to my homeland
Africa the mother as she is called
Where things are still not right
The fires that burn her
Begin to well up in my belly
This fire deep inside opens my eyes once more
I take a look at my surroundings
Brought to this new world, because it has been called safe
Though murder still headlines the news
Babies lose their mothers
There is no safety net to be found in this world
I know I have to come to terms with all of this
I can not deny the fight that wells inside of me
I know now that I must make a difference in this world no matter the cost to myself
They say everyone who tries to make a difference in this world dies
I guess that I have already ordered my tombstone
Because I can not rest till I see the world at peace
Everyone who makes a difference does die
Though so does everyone else
So there is no need to fear
There is no need to cry
I have come to terms with my death
I just wish that you would to
For the freedom of all people
This is why I write
This is why I live
This is what I am willing to die for
Peace, pure undeniable peace

Tomorrow comes for those who fear it.
Today never ends for those who live it.

I'll be right back, just had to tell you, I grew up with a guy whose last name was your title.
Yes, everyone dies anyway.
But I am like you, I want to go out holding onto a rainbow of Peace.

That was absolutely beautiful.  I am completely speechless for once.

Godspeed to you in your mission, Poe!  What you've said is true and I hope you are able to make a difference.  Just putting it into something like a poem makes a difference, I believe this.

Poe, you have a complex and very beautiful, sensitive soul.  Such a soul carries the pain of the world and often the world shows little care for such souls.  But here in Passions, it is different.  Please don't leave.

I am also from Africa - South Africa, to be exact.  What country are you from?

Midnitesun that is a rather different name. I guess though if you think about it, all words are just names we have given to each thing.
To leave this world in the name of peace, a path trodden by so few. Yet so many of them were quite noble.
Thank you, jody5. I kind of figured that it would leave some people speechless.
Thank you, iliana. I plan to make a difference, or at very least spark the mind that does.
Thank you, Dominique-Simone.
Thank you, Magnus. Strangely it took me the longest time to convince myself.
Thank you, OwlSA. I would agree with the complex soul, not necessarily with the beautiful and sensitive part. To bare the world upon my shoulders is something I am willing to do with no compromise. It gives everyone else a break.
It is quite different here. It is very loving and nurturing. I must leave though; I can not help those in need from where I am.
I am from SA as well I am from Jo'burg myself. Hillbrow to be exact, though my family is from the Cape

Tomorrow comes for those who fear it.
Today never ends for those who live it.

Poe, thank you for your response.  I am from Durban.

I applaud and admire your noble spirit.  You have already made a difference, here in Passions, but yes, I can understand what is driving you, but it worries me that you won't/can't rest until the world is at peace because, although that is a very honourable goal, it is hardly attainable, least of all by one person on his/her own, and a little peace and rest for you as you work, is essential.  Being such a perfectionist/idealist could push your stress levels over the top and then you wouldn't be able to help anyone.
