my soul is torn
like the curtains
hiding our truths
concealing our fears

now I am cleaved
across distance
beyond reach
between hope and hell

wed to an anchor
of silver chain
and golden braids
whose heart
is cold
but nonetheless true

lost to the winds
of adventure
filling my sails
with tempests
of ecstasy
yet ripping
love’s canvas
of time

"Only the dead, have seen the end of war."
Plato

Such a penance
for love...

Sir?

Your work never fails
to do anything but inspire.

Thank you.

I had a painting once, like this--

the boat was the smallest object in the painting, so overwhelming was the sea.

That's what this reminded me of--resilience.

Much enjoyed, so thank you.

~ To be truthful, Sailor, I would have had to quote the entire poem to point out my favourite lines! Well done! You captured the spirit of love and adventure and parlayed it into a wonderful piece of writing!

Thanks Sue,
Knots indeed....
I was "knot" thinking of it quite that way, but I see you're "write".

Excellent job of love, it's tribulations
and the moments of many a sailor...upon
the sea, far away from...

This definitely relates to how I feel when I think I am alone in the world.  Sometimes, I think the only one who understands a writer truly is  another writer.  Great piece!
