Where’s the rose of scent I love?
The strength to help me rise above
Where’s the smile or word of praise?
To help me through this tangled maze

Have my passions gone unseen?
My dreams, the things that have not been
Are my days just here to live?
To question and then not forgive

Have my needs all met a wall?
That will not shift or move at all
Are the ropes I cling too long?
To stop me when I must be strong

Where’s the well of fruitful bliss?
I thirst for now and truly miss
Where’s the spark that once did lite?
The torch within to better sight

I’m chained to day and habit’s way
Cursed by dreams that ever stay
Praying, asking what to do
Before another day is through

The answers lie behind a door
On which I’ve knocked each time before
But only voices faint I hear
And what they say is never clear

I feel our time’s a testing ground
Where passion’s lost and strength is found
Where a quota’s there to use
But slowly; so to not abuse

So everyday must go a way
Which alters as we try to stray
But somehow we are lured back
Upon our road and given track

Though questions in the mind do grow
Answers we may never know
Let us in our time with fate
Question and the rules debate

This, I know, is all of the why
I've left my questions to the sky
to rain me answers some day soon,
or just to visit, sun and moon

Maybe no answers for my ears;
if that is so, then I've no fear
that someday soon I'll stand there too...
and softly whisper, déjà vu

Rick, thank you for the inspiration this morning.  This, and my coffee, were all I needed.
