Turn of Time

The cold continues as time turns its hands
and the riddled tomorrow leaves me stranded in sands
that slip through, the seconds and minutes to pile.
I'm alone in my thoughts once shared with a smile.

The inward of turning, the outward retreat
dancing in silence to an offbeat repeat.
Hidden from all, the understanding of me
where temptation is lost in the blindness I see.

Untangling the chords that sing nonsense at night
when hunting in thoughts for the worthy invite
where the beauty remains, that comfort in dreams,
the warmth of a childhood that calmed the extremes.

For the missing is missed more than anyone knows
On whose path am I walking on this cold day's repose.

M

Absolutely gorgeous work!  The bit I have posted as it could apply to so very many Maureen.  Well done indeed!
