Genocide doesn’t exist anymore, you say?
Take a good look around
An entire culture becomes the prey

Those that could won’t lift a finger
Thinking what won’t be said
Less of the organized kind
A crime to let an opportunity pass them
So goes on in their head

Too many troops too far away
Too many gone too long
For the liberation of another

Yet here we are bleeding into a gulf
Wanting it to just disappear
Objective of the power becomes crystal clear

The intent is there
By not fixing what is breathing with shallow breath
They are leaving them to a slow and painful death

it's unbelievable, just when does the outrage kick in? just how does something like this, become yesterday's news?

as for you

Excellent work and remarkable words, Susan.
Keep the messages going out!

Have you considered publishing this
in your local paper?

And now for a ray of hope...

President Bush has pledged 3.1 billion for fortified levee protection (we're hoping that starts soon though--real soon) and congress has approved 8 billion in tax breaks for local businesses. (Still no total bail out for entergy, but hopefully a large portion of those tax credits will help)

I want to thank somebody--it's not quite a light at the end of the tunnel, but at least we have a flashlight now.

And we here in New Orleans are watching our elected officials more closely than ever too.

And oh man--if we can incorporate a plan to start replacing wetlands--I will be a very happy serenity.

Thank you Susan, Susie, Kacy, Jo-jo, and all of you who petitioned congress on behalf of the gulf coast region.

It's a beginning.

Susan,

If Americans had not gone beyond their present comforts
my parents would have been worked to death or exterminated.

"Too many troops too far away
Too many gone too long
For the liberation of another"

An opposition to that is hardly the moral high ground.

Thank you all.

John~  My point there was not to say we shouldn't be doing what we are doing but rather that we should also take care of ourselves.

Compare the casualties, then tell me which situation is on the news more?  Then explain to me why.  Because I certainly don't get it.
