You sought to deceive me once more but you are discovered, your lies are the edge of the sword the point of the dagger and I feel this final wound is mortal, too often have you cast aside my feelings your blade biting deep into my heart. I have fought valiantly but have suffered against your merciless onslaughts, left cowering to heal my wounds crying with shame at my defeats. Once I was a man, once I was proud, once I was proud to be a man but now I am a shadow lurking in the dark. Lies and deceit are your armies against which I had no defence, my truth and loyalty defended without shields, my love and honour advanced without weapons. Although I am beaten and my wounds are deep I yield this battle without shame for I defended with truth and loyalty and upheld the code of love and honour. You have won this battle, but for you the war will continue for lies and deceit will enhance you no friends but only serve to increase your enemies. I am alone now, but under your banner you will be alone, forever cursed by your deceit and trapped by your lies. Savour your victory whilst you can because the taste of victory will become bittersweet when loneliness is your only bedmate. This night I will cry for you and only this night, for in the years to come, you will cry for yourself. silverwind |

It is good to know that you can hold your head high and not descend to the depths she descended to. It is also good to know that you will "cry for her one (metaphorical) night" because more will harm you and one night will balm your soul with empathy which is so much better than revenge. I wish you courage, strength, wisdom, determination, healing and in time, love of the kind you deserve. Beautiful poem. - Owl |
