Winter sheets the land in white and quiet waiting
Chickadee play hide and seeking boughs anticipating
Yet here I am, among the last of autumn’s windfall sighs
Sending thought waves into outcomes scarlet portal rise

Plummet of degrees gives syllables annunciation
Farthing forms in ribbon skies an imminent migration
Yet here I am, in waist deep freeze of purple fortitude
Seeking frigid fingers twined to glove a warmer attitude

The if and when as snowflakes falling lash light so
Perhaps between the reasons of sky mounting winter snow
Yet here I am, along the icebergs laden shores
As if to thwart redemption as the sun so smugly snores

Winter sheets of crisp clean white progress without a sound
The Downy’s crest flashed red amid the spruce it flits around
Yet here I am, absorbed in wonderland of rigid right
Sending back to center what seemed frozen through the night

Smiling at this, and you...

the sun doesn't always snore, y'know...

sometimes she whistles!

Kathleen, what a gorgeous, deeply thought-out poem ('course all of yours are).  That last lines ties things together so beautifully.   ...jo
