Reel to reel
double tracked
and looped

it plays . . .

The needle needs changing
but I've grown to love the sound.

It brings me to myself.

I get lost these days,
listening to the wind
shaking secrets from my windows.

This womb is warm
and safe inside.

The music never stops,
my smile stays in place.

Yes, I will remain.

Here,
with you.

If you sing for me,
once again, please . . .

Lovesong for a Cardinal.

Sue...I have been listening to the lovesong of a peacock.  It is a soft trill...not sure how they do it...I have to vibrate my tongue to make the sound.  I'd love to hear the Cardinal.  Your beautiful poem makes me think you are at peace.  I hope you are.

easy to get lost in some thing so unclaimed by this pressing world

i do it in the trees
winters barely begun
and they claim me
with their open arms
their pose stationary
despite the winds
that storm through
them, easy to get lost
in in their reclusive
world

Sue, the most soothing sounds to me (besides flute music) will always be the varied songs sung by our feathered friends.

Hey, my pair-a-keets sing along to Anime music, Kitaro, Atahualpa, Nakai and Nawang, but especially to Joe Satriani! LOL, but one of them even sings sweetly listening to rowdy boisterous hard rock tunes, so I have to wonder about his hearing. Now someone will ask what I am doing listening to rowdy rock music. LOL. Hey, it's the best way to clean house!

Do you think you could introduce this peaceful bird to the obnoxious woodpecker that pecks at my brains   I am serious, he won't leave!  This was delightful young lady.

There seems to be a sense of quiet acceptance to this poem. Very pleasing. Thank you for sharing. Bob

Oh my goodness, I know this well, Little One.
This is such a special place to be, and when found,
it makes you want to stay....all curled up into the
fetal position of yourself. Yes, I know
exactly what you mean, Sue.
Huggies to you,

Martie, the fact that you can do that amazes me . . . and thank you, I am at peace, right here, in this write.

Here is that wav file link, just scroll to song:

Karen?  It IS a cuddle . . . you got it.  And sometimes I DO smell good . . . *smile*

Ed wouldn't mind one bit . . . thank you -
You are every bit as lovely and more as a single white rose in the first snow, M'Lady.

Michele?  You nailed it:

easy to get lost in some thing so unclaimed by this pressing world

Is why I wish I were a bird . . . your write is beautiful - thank you for that.  I know you understand this.

Kacy, gosh, birds are lovely, aren't they?  (OMG I know how to play the flute, Stairway to Heaven actually) *laughing*

Have been thinking of getting a bird, just don't know who to get.  Then I felt bad keeping it in a cage, then thought gee, maybe I can let it fly around the house . . .

And why shouldn't you be listening to rock and roll?  The soul would perish if it didn't!   Thank you and a special wink to your birdies.

Owl, Welcome, sorry I missed your entrance - thank you for that and what a peaceful name you bring here to my post.

Sharon - LOL - you already know THIS bird very well, trust me.  *smile*

Hey Eddie, I was hoping you would like this one.  Wish I could sing as sweetly as she/he did at your window.

Hey Bob, wow - I didn't catch that - acceptance, My God, you are right, thank you for helping me see that.

Thanks Nancy, you always bring me smiles.

Hey Ken, thank you . . . introspection, eh?  Yes . . . am glad you think it looks good on me, have been doing a lot of that these days.

Vic?  yes, I do and thank you . . .

Jeepers Ethel, you said it:

all curled up into the
fetal position of yourself

Can't we just stay there forever?

*smile*

Thanks for the hug, was much needed.

Thanks guys . . .

Well you sure started something I tell you.  I went out and got a bunch of birdfeeders, suet holders, and off I go now to install them in the trees.  Beautiful write, but also seems a wee winged thing was looking inside as well as out to me?
