Softly, deftly, she strums a lyrical lute,
happily hums at the thought of holiday loot,
moves her feet in rhythm to a holiday drumbeat;
the moment is frozen in a time of rhyme,
oh, how the sleighbells ring, the children sing,
and somewhere over the rainbowed roof
chilled carolers sing songs of silver and gold.

‘tis the season’ some say
as I quietly look away
in a moment of wonderment,
wondering what they may say
the rest of the year.

It's too bad we can't keep the spirit of Christmas year round.

"‘tis the season’ some say
as I quietly look away
in a moment of wonderment,
wondering what they may say
the rest of the year."

They seem to forget the "reason for the season"
Perhaps the word "wonderment" should be replaced with "bewilderment"?
They do not carry the message of Christ the year round in their heart lockets,
that is plain to see...The question "Why" is a hard one...why do they loose the spirit?
Is it advertisement propaganda that turns our heads away from grace?
Are minimum wage laws written by the hands of the devil...

I rant on, but have no final answers...

All I can say is is that what I feel and say at Christmas, is the same I feel and say all year, and I don't even consider myself as a "normal" Christian. I just like the way their Godhead was said to speak and feel.

I am ranting again, sorry...

"wondering what they may say
the rest of the year."

Yes, certainly something to wonder about but the trick is to stay constant ourselves and I sure do have a hard enough time with that.  Still learning, I guess.
Enjoyed your words.

OhKacy~
I truly hope your blahs go away .... this IS the season of joy in abundance~

I reckon I don't wonder much about the reasons of others ... I just accept the merriment as it comes~

We do seem to be a bit more light-hearted this time of year.  For some, it makes the entire year worthwhile, reminding us that there is selflessness about.  Now if Christmas only came in better weather!!  Ken

I enjoyed your poem Kacy, but there isn't much that will take the jolly out of December for me, I won't let it!   Wishing you and S the best as always.

~WWell now Kacy Midnitesun.
I listened to this with Jaws, and since the word "bahumbug" isn't in the jaws dictionary, it sounded something like "written from the Bahamas."
Now wouldn't you like to be down in the Bahamas?????

I do agree my sistah. Every day is a holy day, and it's a shame that we forget that.

wow, I never expected to see so many step inside this thread for a read!
Fortunately, my bah humbug (LOL at Jaime's reply) doesn't last longer than 364 days.
I am happy to say, I do meet many people every day of the year who maintain a giving spirit, and who work daily to make the world a brighter place. And some of these dear people post in here.

Kacy, you have a beautiful and very sensitive spirit. You are able to see behind facades and below undercurrents. Your eyes and heart see both the Dark and the Light of this world. It is understandable that someone as aware and as sensitive as yourself, could become jaded ~ if only for a "moment".

May your Christmas be one of humdingers and not humbugs!

Linda
