Thick and clinging like a fear
morning mist creeps ever near
the fancy lace-frilled bodice
of a mystical Goddess.

She trembles slightly so, just so;
could it be she doesn’t know
the ageless ghost of County Fair
has laid her feelings bare?

She turns as one in love undone
outward towards another sun,
her face and secrets hidden deep
in the magic of a dream.

And there in autumn, summer, spring,
when the mist no longer clings
the breeze of this reality
blows only through the trees
because one is dead, the other gone,
and life goes on and on.

Oh, pitter-patter, pat, pat, pat;
rain falls and that is that!

Thanks, Midnitesun.  Something like singing in the rain, I guess.

Helen, just had to make time tonight to read at least one of yours.  I'll be catching up periodically.  This one flows like a summer stream after a light rain; it's a heartbreaker, too...I might have figured from the title.  Beautiful write.  Saving it.   ....jo

A poem of courage, Honeybunch.  I am glad you have it and I am glad you have passed it on to me and others through your beautifully sculptured poem, going from magical illusions to magical reality.

Thank you, Diana, but I do so want to keep my magical illusions.  Unfortunately time has a voracious appetite and eats away at them.  Sigh!

... then you just need to create more.  Time can only eat so much at a time!
