It's assumed he was bewitched
Legends blame the siren song
but I think it's simply this
he knew exactly what he did
and all my wishes different
will never right the wrong.

I am ashamed I must admit--
I, with my experience,
He was not my first
and this
most likely, not my last regret
and time it doesn't heal, I say -
it's just that I forget.

Karen, I enjoyed reading this from your heart.
It's so true that time doesn't always heal....
just makes the remembering a little easier...
at times, anyway.
Thanks for sharing today, sweet lady.
Hugs,
Ethel

Sensitive and empathetic.  An unusual angle.  Usually it is the love-lorn partner who is moved to poetry.  I enjoyed this very much.

I think of him now, as nothing more or less than a
flame in pain ... burdened with voices in his head
and an ache he couldnt fill (or so he claimed)

Muses are a dime a dozen here and it
seems he wrote them all. Moths can be
deaf, dumb and blind, even when the
writing is on the wall.

Truths blur between the lines, reminders of regret in rhyme ...

And I might have loved him once, but always knew moths cant
compete with the butterflies ... Sometimes they write the words
so well, we forget poetry can be nothing more than pretty lies.

To the soul of everything
Throw my heart out on the stones
And I'm almost gone

This one needs to be set to music, I am not kidding, Karen.  There is a haunting tune underying those well chosen words.  And that title -- I can envision an album cover!    *hugs*....jojo

These ending words anchor the poem safely in the harbor that protects good poetry from the storms of mediocre verse found elswhere on the net..a reason why I have made pip my poetry home...

thank you

I almost titled this "whatever floats your boat" but I thought better of it, as I wanted to add the ephemeral, fragility quality of paper on water.

I do appreciate you all reading, and hugs for the understanding.

I leave you with instructions, in case you have a hankering to follow suit:
http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/paper_ship.htm

And then, as Kacy suggested, you just let it go...

Karen...WOW another one of those I will not forget...Paul

The title... Threw me for a loop cause it didn't sound like you.

The poem...100% you How you manage to say what you do in that special way still amazes me.

The reaction...Just wanting to cry and wish it away for you.

Paul

Ah, yes! By releasing boats (that no longer are for your higher good) to float freely downstream, ensures your serenity, Serene One.

You are a multi-faceted poetess! ~ and woman.
