You’ve Got Mail
By Paul Wilson

Ding… “You’ve Got Mail”
the metallic voice says again
My heart skips a beat
as your memory rushes back in

I’ve heard that sound
so many times before
Knowing it was you
now you don't write anymore

We use to talk all day long
and into the late night
Sharing those special times
making sure everything was alright

That sound fills the room again
giving me hope that it’s you
My heart tells me yes
but I know it can’t be true

I read all your old e mails
just to fill my empty heart
If I were to write you again
I wouldn’t know where to start

Time we lost can never be found
but I’ll go on hoping you write
That’s why I sit at this computer
every day and every night

Maybe just maybe… tomorrow
will be the day… you make me smile
I wonder… are you hoping I write
but you know… that’s not my style

I think I’ll dig a deep hole and bury
this computer… along with your memory
But then I think tomorrow
maybe just maybe you will write me

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~

Confucious say "he who wants to read must learn to write." This is an amazing poem pointing out the stubborness of individuals and their refusal to bend in the wind. You did a good job with this. I hope you don't look at a blank screen for too long.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Paul, this has such a lonely feel to it.
I can certainly relate to that feeling,
even if it isn't that I'm waiting for
an email.

"Maybe just maybe… tomorrow"

This applies to so many things in life that we'd like but someone once said to me that if you want something badly enough, you have to put your energy behind it. Guess that means that you should write - discover a new style.

lofreq...Thanks for reading and your reply.
I guess we all lose contact with ones we care about every now and then...Paul

Kethry...I have called twice since her computer was lost to huricane Katrina but feel like it's her turn to call.
Thanks for your thoughtful reply I really appreciate it...Paul

Ethel...I sure hope you get that e mail. I know it's not easy but mayme just maybe today will be the day for both of us. Thanks for understanding and your caring reply...Paul

Honeybunch...You are so right, sometime we have to take that first step, but I just don't know if I want to or not again.
Thank you for taking time to read and reply...Paul

HopeS...I really hope that person gets in touch with you. Sometime all we have is hope and that is better than rejection so I will just let things stay as they are right now. Maybe she will read this poem and call me. Thanks for reading and knowing the feeling...Paul

This is wonderful write of longing Paul.
Men...you're all so stubborn...or so it seems to me. Please try to contact this special person at least one more time. Perhaps there is a very good reason for the absence of mail. Besides the hurricane.

Good luck! hugs, Chris

Chris...Thanks for the encouragement. I really don't know but maybe. The holidays are coming up and about this time around 7 years ago the situation was the same and as I was picking out a Christmas card to e mail her I checked my in box and she had sent me one, which started us back on the road to renewing the long loving caring relationship shared between a father and his daughter.
I miss our talks and special times...Paul

I really hope your stay here at Passions is long and fulfulling.

You said your dad use to write here, does he still? I've only been here about 4 years and thats about how long I've been writing.

Thanks again for the reply...Paul

LeeJ...Your reply is right on. Most people often suffer a lifetime of hurt and pain because they don't want to give in and change to afraid they will only get hurt and used again. A line has to be drawn sometime and maybe this is that sometime.
Thanks for taking time to read and for your caring reply...Paul

I've read your respond to me...thank you Paul for taking the time.  I read somewhere in the Bible, that some people are just not ment to join in marriage.  I believe I'm one of those people. Yes, I'm afraid my health could not take another failure, but also, Paul, I know a peace now, that I've never before known, and individuality that I don't plan on compromising...and much more responsiblity to my self...along with spiritual growth, etc.  No, I'm not nearly as afraid anymore, as I've grown to understand, that I enjoy my singleness, and the autonomy of it.  I don't need someone to take care of me.  Not to mention, making more and more friends, without expectation.

I also own, respect for self, which is a great feeling...knowing that God's smiling and saying, well, it's about time gal.

I wish society would stop conditioning our own to believe that we must be a couple to be successful.  We don't.  And when we become self supporting in all respects...we then, not only become ourselves, but others as well.  Then and only then, can we succeed in relationships, without expectations or fulfilling our own desires.

Love to you hun, I hope this has helped.

"which started us back on the road to renewing the long loving caring relationship shared between a father and his daughter"

sometimes I think people should read the responses by others and yours in return..it can help to understand what you are going through...

Years ago my father and I argued when I was visiting in FLA...it was all over my mother  sneezing about 17 times which is something she does when she  needs to sneeze..all those little  kerchoos...very tiny sounds..anyway he was picking on her...like she could  do anything about  it ( they were married 48 years)  I came to her defense and then he jumped all over me...

I didn't look at him or speak to him for the rest of my vacation there (a full week) barely wanted to go back into the condo..walked for hours until he came looking for me..we still didn't talk for that week.

The next year he had 5 heart by-passes

Following that he caught Gullain Barre's disease and within a year wasted away and died. I did go there and spend time with him during his first recovery...but I will never forget the loss of time during my vacation when he was well, that was wasted on both of us being hurt and stubborn...a week when we could have been laughing and sharing healthier happier times.

so who cares who makes the first move or the second or the last in order to show the other that you care...don't give up and  don't let the silence deterr you ..in the end  she will come around...and if not..you will know you never gave up trying.
