Numb
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Stark trees are naked and skeletal,
Dull skies are as gray as forged steel.
Fall colors have drained from the landscape,
I am numb and can no longer feel.

A cold chill has invaded my essence,
Since the warmth of his love has gone.
I am lost, and saddened, and listless.
I am pale, and haggard, and drawn.

Gone are the nights of sweet passion,
Gone are the reveling days.
Gone are the bonds of deep friendship,
Gone are his warm, loving ways.

Memories of our years together,
Bring tears and sadden my heart.
I long for his arms to encircle me.
~How did our love fall apart?

The ache in my core and my spirit,
~It drains all the strength from me.
I’m adrift in a sea of sad sorrow,
And losing all my dignity.

Stark trees are naked and skeletal,
Dull skies are as gray as forged steel.
Fall colors have drained from the landscape,
I am numb and can no longer feel.

My dear sweet, compassionate Martie ~

It's just poetry! It's a cold, dull day and so I dipped my quill into my well of sombre gray ink!

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

Hugs with love,

Enchanting One ~

lol When I noticed that the poem was repeated on the page, I hoped that I was able to edit it before anyone saw it! I'm glad you popped in again to see the edited version! lol

Sending you a warm hug, this cold November day!

Oh, how sad. The pic reminds me of Wuthering Heights. Awesome tale Lindalove.

It is a great tribute to the author, when the inked lines carry the reader to find the believability in it!

This is such a well-crafted piece ...~

That gray ink flows very well, Linda!  I am glad to know it is no more than your creative expression, even though it comes from living.  luvsumuch........jo

Great write, Linda.  I'm left thinking about losing dignity to sorrow - not a good thing at all and I've been there for so long now.  Wish I could write "just poetry".

Nightshade ~

Hi, Chris! Yes, it does have a Wuthering Heights feel to it! Actually, it is entitled "The Tempest" but there was no artist's name.

Ahhh, a day much like the past three here. With one difference. It's warm here but very misty, dark and eerie! Good days for writing.

Wonderful poem.

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, I can relate to this feeling ever so much (not right now, as I'm very hopeful and upbeat about life and simply just coping with desires actively) and I am sooooooo happy this isn't how you're feeling right now, dearest friend! (sigh) Wow, your poetry always touches my heart, as it is soooooo obvious because even when I know this isn't how you're really feeling it still sent a chill up my spine, LOL! Bless you, dearest angel friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Don't feel too bad Linda,....it happens to me
all the time....I write poems like this one
and everyone thinks my life has fallen apart.

Pleases me to know that is not the case here.

Hi, Noah! Wow! To have my poetry felt to the point of sending a chill up a reader's spine, is highly gratifying! Thank you for sharing that with me!

Linda, this is an excellent write, my friend.
I am so glad to read in the replies that
it is only poetry and not your life. That
makes me feel better. I was getting worried.
Hugs,
Ethel
