Apple blossoms, for miles spread out
in beautiful consistency
on display in full view
were scented,
so heavenly

always, in the orchard
right up the road.

Even when time had
moved us on
into a different space;
a different place
where change came

to alter life's course
but within life

oh, how we rejoiced

when we gathered together
in the orchard,
right up the road.

It was just around
that same time of year
when you were collecting apples

and they found you

lying there...

I promise you dad
I'll meet you there...

in the orchard

somewhere, up the road.

{note* For some strange reason, no matter where we lived We were always near the orchards… every year my sisters and I would all meet at my dads house after he gathered the apples and  make home made applesauce.}

(Susan, thank you for your kind words
that allowed such beautiful memories to visit….)

live for today,
dream of the future,
and learn eternal truths from the past..

How beautiful to take a memory such as that and turn it into a thing of love and devotion.

Donna
This is a very sweet poem...as sweet as frost kissed apples...with a touch of alum in their skins in places...but the bitter spots are well diluted in the end by a lovely promise...

And that promise is what matters now...

Enjoyed reading this this morning..

Donna...Did you get your fill of eating apples?

I remember growing up and doing the same thing but with sweet South Louisiana oranges. We would eat them till we almost popped. Fresh orange juice every day  before it was sold in the local grocery stores.

Enjoyed sharing your memory about apples...Paul
