Flight of the Blue Balloon
September 1998

On the way to the supermarket
whom should she meet,
but a blue balloon floating by.
Who hasn’t?
But it would have been absurd for it
to be attached to a grey-haired old woman
even for a moment.
So she watched it
and the moment and the balloon were lost.
A child, hidden from sight,
no doubt, soon forgot.
To her regret, she could not.

Isn't it special when we can digress into
another realm of our lives...sometimes it
feels wonderful and at times a slight bit
sad.  But hey,  what are daydreams for?

...and...poet's eyes...isn't it wonderful to have them? They're a gift from beyond, you know....and yours are exceptional.

Thank you Magnus.  This wasn't a daydream.  I felt very ashamed of myself.  If there had been a child visible, I would have tried to catch it because I would have had someone to hand it over to - but that is no excuse.

Thank you Ratleader for thinking I have exceptional poet's eyes.  I often feel very grateful for them, but they don't always translate well into words, unfortunately.

Thank you Dark Stranger.  Would you accept a friendly owl granting you your wish, oh Blue Balloon, you?

You write with warmth and wit. I pictured this, and smiled. And would have, if i'd have spotted you in real life.

Thank you gemjop.  Yes, I giggle when I remember it, but I also feel bad!  The absurdity of my holding a balloon shouldn't have weighed more than a child losing his/her link with magic, (and most times I try not to care what other people think), but it did!

Thanks, Midnitesun, I'm glad you did.

I simply adore the all of this~

LOL ... moi ? ... I would have (and have) chased that ballon until I caught up with it!

Of course I'm still the 'kid' that sits in the aisle floor at the store ... playing with all the toys~

I hope I'll never outgrow it !
