This I write after reading a quote from a poet here who is to be admired not only for her talent with words but also for the quality of her person.  I believe her words are inspired and were meant for me to read today.
“I would rather be silent and write, than to speak loudly and be bound.” Karilea

and so I write

with eyes open

no truth hidden
or placated by rationalize
I find that it is not a nice place
inside of me
lack of self control
opens a door to the ugliness
hidden inside and
screaming injustice
for all its worth
proves out to be cheap
and ill worthy of
justice’s very definition
the louder the screaming
in my ears
the more bound
I become
for now I have my own wrongs on top of
all else and
you will readily agree that anger
or numbness
are not pleasant choices

with eyes open
I find I do not like me
much
there is none of that person
that with closed eyes
I thought to be proud of
with eyes open
I am ugly
the self pity that feeds my tears
quite easily becomes me
where is the person
I thought I had grown to be

who is this raging maniac
who would claw your eyes out
if not bound
by her own
dementia of injustice
who through her bonds
can barely now type
out the words
that might bring freedom
words that hold the key
to healing
words that soak the tears
and give reason

to write

She inspires many here, including me.  I enjoyed the honesty within your poem and the strength with which you wrote.  Welcome to Passions!!

thank you martie, I believe in honesty, I thought I wrote in honesty, but I find that self delusion is a strong force to reckon with....sigh

I have to believe
you see the gleam of admiration
mixed with tears of joy...

at the power of you.

God blesses you, girl...

While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?

You are, oh most definitely, not the only person she affects this way....nor the only poet.
