Between the Lines

Secrets

Sometimes it builds when least expected
the loneliness, tomorrow's fears.
Mind interred, the rest is absent
brought on the forth of this day's tears.

The ups and downs of new life rivals
the calming soft of back when, then.
The full moon links the yesterdays
dissolving as it wanes again.

So often when I think these thoughts
I track the prints my fingers make.
Temptation calling out in voices
headstrong words to fill this ache.

Sighing once or maybe twice
to fill my lungs, to energize.
I walk the walk down narrow pathways,
alone this morn under darkened skies.

Sometimes a stranger comes my way,
sits beside and holds my hand
through words of caring, not by touching
until eyes on his, my own do land.

I'm naked often, see-through even
easily one feels my pain.
Though smiling is my front of course,
my voice will lose its strong domain.

And then I hold the back of it
pretending all is well and fine.
But hazel eyes give way the secrets
tears in need of warmth to dine.

"But hazel eyes give ways to secrets..." What a wonderfully musical phrase. Nicely done, M. Bob

You share such deep thoughts ...~

'The full moon links the yesterdays
dissolving as it wanes again.'

And I love the delicacy of this~

Ah Maureen, this sounds so much like myself.
I can smile and put on a good front most times,
but my voice breaks and gives my true feelings away.
Heart hugs, Nancy

Now - while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again...and again...

As the others, I also understand this
completely, Maureen. Excellent writing, as always.

So very true....and I think that every line which follows this one, carries reality at its heart. Some poems are gifts to the reader, and this is one of them.

I think most of us try to hide our pain...and those of us here write about it..
