Alone In Bed
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Tears are raining in my heart,
I’m drowning in my sorrows.
I lost my way down lover’s lane,
And dread my lone tomorrows.

His arms no longer warm me,
His eyes light not my life.
Gone are the times so tender,
Replaced by times of strife.

As a bridge he did support me,
As my friend he walked by side.
But since the day we parted,
I fade from tears I’ve cried.

As my knight in shining armor,
He was the salt of my earth.
His smile outshone Apollo’s,
He charmed with wit and mirth.

Cold winter months are coming,
Long nights loom up ahead.
Sadness fills my every pore,
As I lie alone in bed.

She does seem wistful, doesn't she?

Linda...

this poem does well with the photograph...

and yet, could stand alone.

Thank you, little one!

Wistful is the perfect word for it.

You wind the story around the picture perfectly Linda!

Linda - oh how terribly sad.
I do hope this isn't written about yourself.

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, this is so very sad and heartfelt, dearest friend! I am experiencing a different kind of loneliness in bed right now; yearning to feel love for the first time, as I absolutely believe with all my heart that it is better to have love than lost to have never loved at all, and I want ever sooooooo much to be embraced by my dream girl's gentle, warming spirit and though I have confidence in myself and know I'll find her, I still can't help but cry many nights before I go to sleep in just wanting so much to just experience that feeling of loving someone more than anyone! (because I never met Joanna, I don't count that as official love) (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, I also feel ever so much for those who have loved and lost and I too send comforting hugs out to them, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Linda, say it isn't so! I sure hope this is just a poem 9and a wonderful one at that) and not a true happening.

You can cry on my shoulder if need be!

Thank you for saying so. I really enjoy matching poems with paintings and paintings with poems. The latter be the case with this post.

Chris, you are such a sweet and compassionate soul. Yes, these feelings are mine. The bleak, November weather can ofttimes bring up solemn memories. Fortunately, this poem is not a reflection of my present.

Yes, 'tis sad ~ but fortunately, I am not. Mind you, I have had my fair share of sad moments in my life. The sum total of all our experiences resides within us and it is from this well that this poem was written.

Thank you for the kind words, my friend.

Have a joyous day!

Hi, there stranger! Haven't seen you around for quite a while!

I enjoy pulling out emotions that are buried deep inside. Especially when they no longer have an impact on, nor impeach upon, my present.

I express them and then let them go.

It was good to hear from you!

Yes, 'tis sad and true, that there are those alone and feeling lonely, on Christmas Eve. I wish the whole world was happy and at peace ~ but then Earth would be heaven and a birdie told me that we are all here to learn valuable lessons. Personally, I'm not particularly fond of that process!

Love & Light,
Linda
