Look To The Light

This is a place of living dark;
no angels will sweep down
through shadows here
to lift you up, and even rain
brings heartbreak, for you know
there is but one path and
it leads through stone.
Look to the light! Within this rock
there is no home for you.
Look up, see how it finds
a way in through the twistings
of the world, and then remember:
even here it promises the sky.

So many who are dear to me have been thrust into dark places, that I can't dedicate it to one or another. It seems useless to say "all" but there's really nothing else to say.

Ed, we all endure this hopeless feeling that
our compassion brings into us.  And if only
the light might encompass them, only then
might they live and a happiness be felt.

Ed, the photos are so beautiful, and the thought within the swirl of them, touches me more than I can say.  I think you needed a kleenex warning...sniff!!!     Thank you for this!

Dear Man...
Isn't that exactly what life
is all about?

It's called...earth...
and life...
and that weight we carry
on our shoulders
to get through each and
every day...

BUT this?

This...is a poem
that God should read.

Thank you.

Ed,

Great thoughts, words, message, photos!  As I know you dive into photo, I wonder if you shot these.  If so, from where?  Simply breathtaking, MY FRIEND.

You are a multi-faceted poet ~ and man. I enjoy the many sides that I have witnessed here on the pages of blue.

This is an exceptionally moving piece of writing. The marriage of words and pics is compelling.

Oh, Ed... I have known these dark places all to well. I also know that there is always a light to guide us out of the abyss. Your words are simply awesome - so too are the pics! hugs, Chris

If knowing about dark places produces such beauty as is in this inspiring poem, your photography (or your choice of another's photography)and obviously in your mind, then need I say, that the purpose of the dark places is evident.  Thank you for this gem, sparkling with many facets of light.

Yes, those are my pictures -- I took them this Saturday, in Antelope Canyon, AZ. I chose the dark ones for this, but there are also places of light there. Maybe I should post a couple of those too!

Ed, I too have been to this dark place..
but you explained it in words and pictures
better than I ever could.

I read this yesterday, but couldn't respond... I could only cherish the promise it holds... and be grateful for your caring heart.

It's incredibly beautiful, my friend... as are you.
