In the space between moments

This is the first new poem I've written in a very long time, so I apologize if I'm rusty.
Mirror

The mirror throws back
verisimilitude
in its cold, clean gleam.

Eyes of an iced verdant green
stare deep,
a hollow ache revealing itself
through the shadows
of a gaze.

Phantasmagoric memory
haunts the orbs
that linger in reflection
on the glass.
(The image blurs
as her pain sharpens.)

And the mirror is an idle idol,
giving no respite
to the soul beneath the eyes.

Instead it is just an indifferent keeper,
watching silently
as her emerald vision
succumbs to chill.

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of time like dew on the tip of a leaf.

Krista

My mirror is often not my friend....cold it is, and hurtful at times.  Look within, where the true beauty lies.  I'm glad to see you writing again.  I'd like to see more!

Krista,  if I get rusty, let me do as well
as you have done...

Thanks everyone for your kind words.  I'm glad my rustiness isn't too bad!  Hopefully some more poetry will come to me too--its been a long time since I've had a good flow.

Thanks again, it is deeply appreciated.

Well at least the mirror didn't crack! ~ from the chill, that is! ~not the from your image that was reflected in it! (which by the way is very lovely!)

Your pen may be bit rusty (according to you!) but the ink is pure gold!

Welcome back hugs,
EA
