I am tired
Will you not give me that?
You must know
That I don’t listen to you anymore
The little girl grew up

Yelling doesn’t scare me like it used to
I walk away from the anger in your eyes
Blaming anyone within sight

Our blood is tainted
With the dysfunction
Of your dysfunction

Not that I claim perfection
But that I could at least dream of it
While you concentrated on making misery
To lesson your own

And now?

My babies fight
And I blame you for not being
What you were obligated to be
The day you called yourself a father

Powerfully painful. Beautifully captured in just the right words and phrasing. Bravo!

Susan, the misery that you have experienced is almost palpable with the power of your words ~ but through them, your strength is shining through.

A fine example of a cathartic spill from a newly empowered solar plexus.

full of pain
and no punches pulled as always
feeling it over here...sorry for your anguish, glad you are free of him somewhat

(angel comforting hugs) Oh Susan, I can understand ever soooooo much that we all hurt and have demons in life, but I pity those like the man who speak of who, rather than positively fusing the frustration into determination not to repeat the past and be good parents, to instead only inflicting the despair and apathy and neglect on their own children! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, you speak with a golden, gentle heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Well done, Susan!

I enjoyed this and you described your feelings in words very well, but then of course you would.

This means much to me, too. I would change the ending to, "mother."

Thanks for sharing!

Susan,
Insight and courage too! The sorrow is palpable in this write. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
