The world
A patchwork quilt beneath me
Produces puzzle pieces, while
Tiny movements create life
Clouds of cotton silver and white
Hug my wings, as I glide to my destination.
Sleepy, my eyelids fall
And my head gently rests against
The window frame.
Wind transparent, demands my ears
As it sings and whistles the songs of home.
Uncomfortable, my leg falls asleep
Quick to reposition
My foot
Softly raps the old lady’s knee
Startled her eyes burst open,
Unfamiliar surroundings pass before her
As her dreams lay themselves to rest.
Sadden; her green eyes gaze upon me, while
A slow smile appears as I apologize.
Waving me off she slumps
Little by little into her chair, when moments later
A gentle snoring hums from her.
Satisfied she is okay, I shift and grab my book
Curling into the story my mind drifts
And the images I read come to life
While the world quietly
Moves along, never noticing
The plane up above.

I am glad that I went-a-lookin for more posts. Can't imagine why this should be hiding in the corner. The exchange with the elderly woman is quite good. Bob

Outstanding imagery.  I was there.
