Day of Ego’s Death I heard my wisdoms whisper from dark shadows of taboo. And though I stopped myself to eavesdrop, ego stopped me too. For decades I have worshiped her as her only devotee. And thus I felt myself obliged to hear what she might say. Though she spoke convincingly with verbs I recognize, I questioned curiosity and found my traitor’s lies. I called her before me to stand in judgement on this day, To explain to me her purpose and reason for betray. No case could she argue that seemed plausible somehow, For now I found my spirit, in this moment, in this now. I fought death, without dying, to live such gloried days, And am humbled by His triumph, fulfilled in ev'ry way. |
