The Crazed, Psychotic Baby-killer

A strange dream in which Jaime is both Deaf and Hearing at the same time

1:
Mother has to go
On some kind of 'vision quest."
In the meantime,
We will be living
With the Indians in the forest.

2:
One day, around Noon,
My sister leads me
To what seems to be a picnic table.
The Indian women
Have prepared a traditional dish.
It seems to be a cereal grain,
Something like rice or lentils.
They bring me some
On cheap paper plates
And little
plastic spoons they got from Safeway.
In the fierce Oaxacan heat,
The Maztec Indian Women
Don't wear much of anything.
I hug one of my favorites,
Hold her for quite a long time.
Then I experience the threshold of orgasm
And draw back from her, embarrassed.
What if she notices? ...
She doesn't even know me ...
We listen on the radio
To a program for indigenous people
Broadcast from Mexico City.
As I listen to the music,
It grows louder and louder,
Taking on unusual vividness, shape and color.
I cup a hand over one ear
But still hear it from the other.
Suddenly I realize
I'm not wearing hearing aids----
That I'm wearing no equipment whatsoever.
Yet how could I be hearing things
As I once did
More than thirty years ago? ...
I turn,
Walking away from the sound;
But find it is still clear and loud,
That I
Can still tell exactly where it is
Despite my distance.
I muse:
Should I report this to the clinic ...
See the doctor?
Have them test my hearing once again? ..
Then the music starts to fade,
Slowly blurs into meaningless noises,
And then, at last, is gone.
And I am deaf again ...

3:
Then one day,
perhaps a few months later,
(as time has no such meaning here,)
Mother finds her "answer."
Or does she? ... ...
It is time for us to leave.
I am handed street clothes
Do I remember how to put them on? ...
The car radio is on.
An announcer reads the News.
He reports without emotion
That a crazed, psychotic
baby-killer
has broken loose
From some facility.
He explains, laconically,
That every crazed, psychotic baby killer
Running loose out on the streets
Multiplies himself by fifteen times,
That this is a problem for police.
And there is more News:
A blind woman was killed
While trying to cross a road.
This happened in rural India
Where, according to the News,
There are few roads,
And even fewer cars,
Cows wander about,
And cold homogenized milk
comes from hydrants on street corners.
Do dogs drink milk? ...

And what about the cows? ... ... ...

Jaime

The last man on Earth
Sat in his living room.
There was a knock at the door.

Today's aphorism:
Do it to others
before they do it to you.
... And then I wake up.

Amigo Jaime, what in the world did you put in your glass of milk this time? LOL. So much going on in here, your dream group will have a field day taking it apart then trying to put it all back together. Me? I take it one hallucination at a time, juxtaposed alongside reality. Hey, who calls the shots anyway, to say what was real vs unreal?
LOL. I need some sleep then will come back to this thread again manana...and maybe I'll even figger out how to use the accents software someday. Adios for now, SC.
(I'll library this one so I don't lose it)
PS, I KNOW the answer to that door knocking riddle.
