WWI Canadian soldier Thomas Stewart
Died in Flander’s Field, Belgium, in 1916

Blowing In the Wind
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In dismal gray of rainy day,
a poppy-pinned lapel,
Reminds us all of Flanders Fields,
where lie the brave that fell.

A time for us to honour,
all those who fought and died.
Their loss was mourned by families,
as their nation’s peoples cried.

A war is so destructive,
~ No side can truly win.
Tears fall down from heaven,
as flags blow in the wind.

Thank you for this lovely remembrance, Earth Angel, dear friend.  War is devastating to every aspect of life and to the planet, too, and if angels do cry, then I am sure this is one of the biggest causes.  It is Veterans' Day in the U.S. so this poem seems very fitting for us here in the U.S. today, as well.   & Love & Light.......lily jo

Excellent write Linda..
Tomorrow at 11 am my oldest son
has the privilege of flying a Lancaster bomber
over our Parliament Buildings in Ottawa,
in honour of our fallen heros.
You know I will be watching the telecast of this fine memorial tribute.

Thank you for this timely piece.
Hugs, Nancy

Nancy ~

You must be so proud of your son! That is indeed, a great honour! I wish I could have watched him flying that Lancaster over the Parliament Buildings! Gosh, that would have been something else!!!

Give him a congratulatory hug from me when you see him! ~ and keep one for yourself!
