in an aisle,

(I should be embarrassed but...)

I thought that, as I saw an old love
that wasn't you

Who scurried away
(oblivious girlfriend in tow)
and stole quick glances
at me in aisles thereafter.

I smiled,
but you wouldn't leave me smiling
with tea between my tips
barely submerging laughter,

brimming with memories
of how he adored me.

You have captured an uncommon moment in a common place...the sidelong glance can be a reminder, a beginning, or a lead to nothing at all...love it when those type of moments are captured by a poet.....

I heard somewhere that grocery stores have become the #1 place for singles to meet!

I've always known that. All that ripe fruit fertility smell in there, the proximity...nod, AND? It's easier to tell if a guy is truly single in a grocery than in a bar. *shaking my head* All y'gotta do is check out the cart...(though sometimes their breakfast cereal choices will throw you off--giggling now)

This is so very good!

I had a similar experience. Guy was persuing, calling, single (he said), good looking, and dangling a Harley as bait-(an embarassing weakness of mine). Something felt wrong about him though, so I declined.
Later, spotted him at the market with a wife, a wedding ring and children! He ran like a scalded dog, and I laughed all the way home.

Enjoyed this. Incidentally, with a slip of the finger on the very sensitive mousepad of my new laptop (Lilian the laptop), I accidentally landed up in Inappropriate Post (or whatever it is called). I got a terrible fright when I realised where I was and hopped out of it backwards as fast as I could, so I really don't think it would have been sent to Admin, but if it was, you can tell them about my mistake. Sorry about that.
