The bait was taken into the mouth
as the line sang and went due south.
His teeth did gnaw and strive to free
this hook that held him to destiny.

She pulled and tugged, fretted and cried
to get this fish up over the side.
She groaned and grunted, ate her pride
Her modesty was all she’d hide.

The fish was huge a worthy prize
six foot long, a very large size.
It tipped her scale at one seven three
but she held on for all to see.

It was the boat so long and sleek
that they shared each fishing week.
Casting for gold and getting a bite
Till the wee hours of moonless night.

And when the dawn did come again
away they motored, sputtered and ran.
To the dock where the boards did creak
for the slats were excessively weak.

When in the drink they both did fall
Up to their necks, their all in all
in the future they shared a towel
this tall man and a blue eyed gal!

As I started readin this, my first thought
was our flower/fisher-woman...Martie...and
how much she would enjoy this!

But she beat me to it!

Enjoyed, Magnus!

If I ever caught one--it would end up with me in the drink! I like this.

lol Loved your fish story! I have done the same myself! ~ and I never lived it down! lol

Here's another fish story. When I was a teenager fishing with my Dad in Northern Ontario, I let a 96 pound sturgeon get away! I know how much it weighed, because the next day, a woman from Texas (go figure! They're used to everything being big down there! lol) caught a 96 pound sturgeon right where I had been fishing. I had a steel pole with 25 pound test line and when the fish bit it didn't fight like a pike or muskie, it just slowly bent my pole in half and broke the line. It acted just like a bottom-feeder fish in the sucker family of which the sturgeon is a member. My Dad darn near fried me in the fish fry (pickerel, pike, and perch)later that day because I hadn't played the monster fish correctly. That is one fish story my Dad never let me live down! He cut the photo out of the newspaper of that fish next to the woman who caught it, and he still tells everyone that that is the fish that his daughter had on the line and lost! lol Sorry for rambling, but your poem stirred up some memories for me! Thanks! ~ I think!

Lovin' hugs
Linda

This is cute, it's nice that they tried all types of fishing, from a boat AND from the water.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thanx,  this is about a woman at our office
who became divorced about two years ago and
she didn't know how she would ever have
another man in her life....

Well,  she and her sister bought a boat from
a man they knew....he took them fishing
to show them how to operate everything...
once turned into twice and so forth....

And from it has bloomed a wonderful friendship
of two people that enjoy fishing together..

This was for them to chuckle over...

Thanx all, hope you got a laugh from it.
