Once upon a time
a flu flew the coup,
it was an ordinary feather duster
just waiting in the wings,
and when chicken little cried
the sky was falling,
no one listened

until now

so now it's going to be
a Tamiflu shot for you and me
...if we are lucky
and win some shot list lottery

but I intend to sit by my window...unshot,
watch the wild birds fly by
as I feed my indoor parakeets
and wonder why I always dreamt
someday I'd come back
reincarnated as a bird
to fly high in the sky.
Maybe I'll come back
as a chameleon instead.

Hey Jo, I don't know, but I have a feeling there won't be enough shots anyway, so I  might just pass on the offer. But I hope my 18 year old opts for a protective shot if that flu pandemic happens.
Meanwhile, I have to keep my sense of humor.
