Hear them mutely, voices sounding,
that originate within.
From the clamor one assimilates
they rise above the din.
As, apart from idle chatter,
quite distinct from backround noise,
they unreasonably demand that
ones' attention span employs
keen observance to the details.
Speak their minds in native tongue,
"This is something of importance"
to the fore-front "it" has sprung.
Having been brought into focus,
'til its' likeness echoes here,
this cacophony of silence
falling on these puzzled ears.
Unlike that which may be stifled,
or, ignored to some degree,
to the sufferers of this ailment...
you've my deepest sympathy.

Midnitesun,
You're welcome, and, funny you should mention it, I substituted "sounding" for "screaming" in the finished draft.

Great write, Dr.!  I've referred to it as the "roar," but I think I like cacophony better.   ....jo
