What Right Do You Have

what right do you have
to ask me
of my happiness now

maybe somewhere
I still care for you
but I’ll keep that well hidden
I had only wished to touch your heart
it is clear to me          that I didn’t
there was a time
when you were my air
and it took my breath away
but you found you had
no time or place for me
unless you had a lonely day
you do not understand my heart
and all that it is, it feels
I was of no concern to you
and the love I could create
and all allowed by you was wait
yet, I am a woman that is so real
and on sunny days in clear skies
you made me rain
it fell so silently
alone against clear pain
how sad for me
and for you
that I was not among the chosen few
you may be the sky
but I am the earth
and you missed my worth
never once did you invite me
in or to a special place
just told me of the others
then cleaned and wiped me up
in your life without a trace
still I held on to a dream
                   and you let me
you were not my friend
blindly I just did not see
disappointment was the only promise
that you gave
you have such sad eyes
and the clock ticks away
touch is a want humans crave
there was a time you
made me think
life could be so sweet
but never in a chance
could expectations be bold
I sat watching the slow water flow
it is a blue bayou in a southern cold
I wonder now at night
      do you still drink alone
does it help you forget
burning fires in
the emptiness truly
that aches your bones
and in the light pretending
to be so strong
in a bottle and in life
what is it      that you truly seek
there is no perfection in this world
humans get so twirled and curled
and it all finds you
weak
I never ask you for anything
but I want to know     how
when my pain doesn’t show

what right do you have
to ask me
of my happiness now

just some words cut out
from the diary of my heart

Sad story Helen. They say that memories fade ... but our hearts never forget.
hugs to you, Chris

"does it help you forget
burning fires in
the emptiness truly
that aches your bones
and in the light pretending
to be so strong
in a bottle and in life"
sadly, many souls DO find consolation
within the bottle of loneliness
