Momentary thoughts
To fuse gamete to gamete
Hormonal twinges

Eye contact, a second glance
Signs of primeval courtship

Chemicals are mixed
In groins but quickly dilute
A failed alchemy

In opposite directions
They continue their journey
Both refocusing

Both forgetting the moment
And gold that might have been made

I say this with strongest conviction, care and good will....

and if there were gold to be made,
they would have been so...

Ford, don't ever regret, but be made better for all those experiences....

Hugs to you

This is not a young person's poem...
but the reflective thoughts
of those who once were.

A good read, Ford...

but then, you always are!

Aww, those "hormonal twinges" can grab you, at any time. It is sublime when they are in line with the heart, mind, and soul.

Love & Light,

Lee J

This poem is a statement of everyday reality, it is not a pine for what might have been..It is a statement of life, and how things come and pass almost without our realizing, causing a little tingle, and then moving on, and of the odd twinge of happiness we feel when it happens...

What I speak of does not cause regret, or at least shouldn't, if other parts of our lives are decently steady...

Whitman speaks of it...

"As we live, we are transmitters of life.
And when we fail to transmit life, life fails to flow through us."

It is of the controlled transmission of life that I speak of in this poem, in metaphor...

Thanks for your reply...

smiling at this, dear poet
for I can't help but think most will agree that feeling 'wasted' twinges sure beats
not feeling any twinges

grocery store shopping is a fine treat
when those twinges happen

It's just those moments that keep me going.

Fuel to the soul, it is, as was this, m'friend.

You captured it well and left me strolling the market smiling.

Both forgetting the moment
And gold that might have been made

if only to really seize that moment
seems like i'm still looking
at the hunk's behind
while he's already on the checkout line..
if only he knew what he was missing.........

Funny thing....I don't forget those moments (they have rarely happened)....apparently, you don't either.  Much enjoyed your reflection, Ford.   .....jo

Some moments are indeed treasured and reflected upon Ford.  Very well done,
and of course being from Pa, the title caught my eye immediately!  Well done sir.
