* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

There are those who take titles,
capture thought-sprawled one-liners
and weave them with great care
into tapestry so fair;
those who spy a falling leaf,
follow its down a massif stream;
those who write of cloud’s escape
in thunderous moments, crying rain;
and those inscribers of a truth
which haunts the innocence left of youth.

There are bards who speak of finer things
than e’re to reading I’d n’er believe
could be evoked and written thus,
Every word quite worth a fuss.
And those are poets I admire,
creative spirts who touch aspire,
penning poems, two a day.
Fleeting moments made permanent stay.
Fantasy’s fling of finer things
wrapped up in illusive gossamer strings.

There are other minstrels of a tune,
Earth's protectors, painters of Moon.
They sing their songs, with smile and boon --
obviously inspired...by song of loon.
Fishers of good men, these poets be,
shaking the salt right back in the sea,
one grain at a time,
seasoned, each rhyme.
I admit, they inspire me
with their bold, brave hearts
and honesty.

There are penmen of weary, sorrow, regret,
penmen of lust, lovers, and sweat,
orators of justice, history, wrongs
and rhymers of limericks and mother goose songs,
jesters and jokers who love to explore,
planters of seeds and waterers of more.
All of these poets, I truly adore.

All of these poets,
I find hold one theme –
a need to create
and continue
to dream.

A poem to poets by a poet!!!

Jo, that was a wonderful read! I thoroughly enjoyed it. PiP has so many fine poets and they share so much with each of us. You captured the essence of poetry ~ and of poets!

It is so good to see that you managed some time out of your very busy life, to get back into writing poetry.

Might I also add that you are a fine reader and interpreter of poetry by others and you write such thoughtful replies!

Hugging you, lily jo for this tribute to your fellow poets ~ and for being such a fine one yourself!

Linda, dear kindred spirit, you broaden my smile tonight with that generous post!  Thank you!  Yes....busy, busy....but felt moved tonight to get something out.  Things should slack off a bit for me in about a week for at least 10 days, I hope.  Hope all is well with you.   ....jo

Wow, jo - this is a tremendous write and a wonderful tribute and inspiration to poets. Beautiful words from a beautiful lady!  If being busy results in something as uplifting as this then I can only say keep going.  I may even renege on my decision to hang up my pen.  I'm away for a spell of mother/son love.  Take care.

Jo
The first four stanzas are like opening rosebuds, beautiful in their, each unique way..

But the last is completly open, a prime example of a poetry flower

"All of these poets,
I find hold one theme –
a need to create
and continue
to dream."

What a wonderful, wonderful write!!! *S* A line from "When the Saints Go Marching In" kept running through my head as I read... "Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number!"
