I feel myself writhing with no way to stop,
I feel myself breathing, trying to stay on top.
I do not understand half of what I feel,
My heart is torn, my reasons velvet covered steel.
I lost my self, my confidence in me,
I lost a lot of what made my life free.
My eyes perceive events in one way,
My heart does not perceive even the smallest pay,
This life of mine is in turmoil,
Almost long buried in life’s wondrous toil.
Why can I not feel alive, free, happy?
Anything to make this long path bearable.
I have lost myself in clouds of misery,
Drowned myself so deep,
I do not know where I am going,
Why is it all such a grand mystery, to me?
My perceptions are different from every other person’s,
Like two snowflakes,
So complex, yet so fragile,
Eventually falling to combine with the mass,
Blending, Breaking, Becoming,
What I do not want to be,
A part of the crowd,
A peace of the puzzle,
A face to be forgotten,
In a place where I cannot be found.
I try to figure out where to go,
Taking my proper course,
Yet sureness eludes me,
As easily as losing a needle in a hey stack.
I feel I have no strong ground on which to make my stand,
I feel empty and alone,
The final cookie in the jar.
To be eaten up,
Lost in the greater world,
Taken in by greedy hands,
Never mind the fact that I,
For a wonder, do not want to be lost, forgotten,
Like I once craved to be.
However, this is the time,
Where I need to make my choices,
Let myself take the reigns,
Let no other have controll.
Decide for myself what advice I will heed,
Make my own choices,
Let my heart lead.
If this were so easy,
Like some proclaim,
I would never know the joy, the worth,
Of finding someone,
For whom I will be proud to be.

I always enjoy the unique beauty wrapped up within any snowflake metaphor. You are a beautiful snowflake in your own right/your own write, and need not feel discounted or dismissed...and never will you be completely blended into the masses. For each individual person is as unique as the snowflake. That's just how it is, even when we cannot see all the individual traits of a single human at first glance, we know each soul is unique and inherently special.
I enjoyed this heartbeat write very much. Thanks for sharing.
(also, thanks for the keeper for my library)
