            Autumn puffed in-

         Announcing a change in wind-
The morning sun paints the sky electric blue
a festive backdrop to nature's last
                    party before winter.

                    The woods celebrate-
giddy, swaying, drunk with earth nectar...
Trees dance with the strong breezes until gowns
blazing in copper, scarlet, and gold
rustle, flutter, and whirl to the ground.

                    The sun departs-
A haze of smoke from ancient Indian fires
           clings to the blue-grey horizon:
Reluctant revelers silently slip into frosty slumber
And wait for the warm kiss of spring to
Invite them to her annual ball.

Yes, you know I love this! Both of us enjoy fall so much. Must be because Mom & Dad celebrated each season with such zest. But, especially they loved the fall. Oh, I could ramble on.
hugs & miss ya~

Enjoying poems past and present, today....

The wind definitely tells you around here -- strange to feel a hot dry wind and know it's suddenly autumn, but that's how it happens in Southern California! We're almost past that time now, but still there are occasional days when the desert speaks its peace....

Funny...

how such a beautiful season
passes before us
so rapidly!

Truly, it deserves to be akin to
gone with the wind
and is a time
when we shouldn't

blink!

Worthy of an Ideals magazine, just so you know. Just Lovely!

Lovely indeed, Nancy Lee!

You have a deligtfully delicate touch with your word brush and you use a palette divine!

A lovely picture of autumn - or fall as you call it in Canada and the USA.  My favourite part was:

"gowns/blazing in copper, scarlet, and gold/
rustle, flutter, and whirl to the ground."
