she danced the dance of the white feather
and all who watched were entranced

for the way she floated over the ground
the way she turned, round and round
lighter than any feather thought to be

she danced the white feather better
than the white feather

and in the morning light when all the sky was bright
she spun around and danced again
and hearts soared,
floated upon the clouds in the bluest sky
and everyone wondered why
this feather didn't fall

she danced the dance of the white feather
and all who watched were entranced

Always good to hear your mind at work, Kacy.  Nice writing.  Ken

White feathers were sent to perceived cowards during world war 2 but I don't think this is your meaning.  I prefer to relate it to a story I once read of a young island lass who danced as your poem depicts and became a misunderstood natural healer.  She just disappeared one day but not before leaving many entranced.  Enjoyed the read.

my friends, thank you so much, for reading
and dearest Honeybunch? thanks for that reply, for I had never heard of white feathers being synonomous with cowardice...how very sad
and yes, the magical white feather dancer in my mind is indeed, a natural healer....as song and dance combined can often set the mind and spirit free to roam the skies above, within the beauty that is...life itself

the muse that forever flows alongside our souls, reading to us a book of faith, and dancing a dance of joy, love and everlasting grace.

Wonderful feeling this endows...thank you

Wow. Now this is weird.

I woke from a very vivid dream this morning, which ended with four white feathers, spiraling downward into my outreached hand.

I was going to write about that, but methinks you just did.

Your words danced as lightly as a feather down the page...
