In this moment
with my hands in my coat pockets
walking away from the cold biting at my heels
and the memories tugging at my mind
like a fish on the line
I have found
divinity
and become unstrung

I'll walk home
on a different path tonight
knowing that
perfection
and the beauty
that was in my brother
is gone
with the river that flows downstream

All existence fades to being
with my soul and my memories
and the sound of the big blackfoot river
and a four-count rhythm
and the hope
that a fish will
rise

we had to do a 'found poem' project in class, and this is what came out.
if you've ever seen the movie 'the river runs through it', you'll recognize the last stanza as a quote.
