in the shadows

I watch the faces in the shadows of the night,
a gentle wind breathes them into life;
they’re as lively as the winds stir them up to be
steady gazes waiting patiently;
I’ve finally realized there’s nothing I can do,
time is just a karma driven clock,
some faces calm
others full of fear,
a few still wide eyed
wearing shock as badges,
as if somehow it mattered much to me;
some died by malice
others for a price,
some were in the wrong place at the right time.
I’ve known from the morning
I woke having lost the count,
that part of me crossed over to their side;
my clock is ticking louder every day
and now I’m just along for the ride.

But yer great company C.

Blessed be m'friend.

I have kids to go scare. (Um, I dressed as a Christian tonight. I know my kids are horrified. )

I think many of us get to a point we feel this way.  I used to wonder why the people in the nursing homes where I grew up cried at silly things....like seeing babies babble or looking out the window watching squirrels playing on a branch....I used to wonder.   ....jo
