contorted faces at birth
there is nothing to hide
sad Halloween everyday

became a monster in film
loved a fair lady
beauty and a freak
born contorted

"nothing to correct"
the surgeon said
"you'll lead a normal life
endure pain with your reflection
isolation coated with ridicule"

so it was when he faced the mirror
repulsed by the sheer horror
born a freak
yet desirous of fair ladies
painful  shame
embarassed by his looks

due to society set on form
at odds with contrast
contorted looks
nothing to hide
misery never ends
for an unobtainable
painfully absent
"normal" appearance;
freak this day
as always
sad Hallowe'en.

The one day a year,
when everyone
tried to outdo him...

A compassionate piece, Martin.

Thank you.

Yes, compassionate, yet aching piece.
Brava!
hugs, Chris
