Cynthia - she sings today
just outside my window she
is chanting something vague
I wish
I knew the words of happiness
and had the same ingredient
in my biochemistry
that made her say
"to hell with it -
today I'm going to sing."

Cynthia
she talks too much
and she says she knows she does
so when you tell her that (again)
she just laughs and shrugs:
"It's part of what I am" she'll say,
"bartenders get paid to talk."
and I suppressed the urge to ask,
"How much money shuts you up?"

Shame on me for envying
the happiness that she enjoys
Shame on me for being mean
and shame the edges I employ
to share the misery of me--
my wicked spars of words are toys
that ought to be a joyful seed--

Cynthia--
Teach me to sing.

I'd like to be a joyful noise
warbling a symphony -
a flower blooming in debris
in the morning sun
she is
beloved wife of Mike
who thinks
that he can hide his love for her
by wincing when she sings.

I think

Mike's secret
has been told--
just look there in his eyes.

Ah, those darn songbirds!
Rather like hoptimists...

you can't shoot them...

or slap 'em upside the head...

guess you've got to live with 'em, hey?

Why don't you fix a pot of gumbo!?  That'll keep her quiet for a wee while!

Kari? Mike's a better cook than I am.

It's true.

A transplanted okie, he cooks such the better gumbo I wouldn't even dream of putting mine up against his.

Cute couple tho, huh?

I do feel such envy in this poem but also the love felt for a dear friend too Sometimes it is easy to envy what we don't have ourselves instead of just wallowing in their joy, and singing along just for no reason at all.  Amazing how that warms a soul up   Loved this Mz. Serenity.

I am always told I talk too much..sometimes told to "shut up"...but it is me...
I sometimes wonder why others can't let you(me) be happy when I feel that way.

a most beautiful gift for them, K and also, a beautiful giving of yourself here.

*hugging you tight*

You sing . . . look above.

(but I know what you mean)

and they are lovely.

This really made me smile.

This was a joy for me to write, and it pleased me, to please them.

Thank you all for beaming at them with me.

Perfect.

I've enjoyed very much watching you grow as a poet over the years.  I look forward to reading the next one.

Thanks so much, especially Capricious for dropping in (you two are so quiet it startles me a bit when I find your names in the scroll ) and Lady V?

Thanks you--if they hadn't seen that yet, I think I'll try to have that printed out to make it a real ornament for their tree!

I'm a moody thing these days folks...so I appreciate, very much, as you understand my ups and downs.
