she stroked a pet mouse
now there was a language issue
in the back of her mind
French had to be first
never to make love in English
it would drive her crazy

one day her mouse was gone
the phone rang
an English voice dared
"look across the street
you'll see the mouse"
she saw it run  for its life
treading an already worn wheel
tomcat licking its chops below

"only one way
to retreive your precious pet"
anglophone voice echoed
"what was that" she stammered.
"Make love to me in English
or the rodent will become
a pile of skin and bone".
She shuddered at the thought
of language mockery..
tortured in the name
of language preferences..

Mice die every day.  Making love in English, that would be the tragedy.
