The Harbor of Your Arms
~Linda L. Dowd ~

This hurricane, in all her fury,
Will not beat me down,
Nor can she break my spirit
~‘Tho debris lies all around.

Trees uproot and bridges fall,
And roofs fly by like kites.
Waters rising to mid-thigh,
And out have gone the lights.

Winds may wail, and gales may storm,
And rains may pelt my skin.
But in the harbor of your arms,
I’m well and safe therein.

Perfectly penned Linda..
Hoping all our Floridian members stay safe.

Enchantress ~

Thank you, Nancy. Yes, I too have been praying for our Floridian friends and for everyone else in the path of Wilma.

The meteorologist on CNN commented that  many Floridians are suffering from "Hurricane Fatigue". Considering that they have endured 8 major storms in the past 15 months, 'tis no wonder!

Thank you! I'm from florida and thank you so much for caring. I wish I could be home with my family instead of in college right now .

R 'n B ~

I understand such feelings. I too would feel the same way.

Yes, I most definitely do care about those in the path of Wilma. I pray that your family and friends will be safe as well!

Linda

To feel that safe within someone's arms is a wonderful feeling, isn't it?  Almost worth a hurricane...no, maybe not.

Marge ~

I agree! That picture is magnificent! It is of a sunset as the evening skies of a hurricane are clearing.

It's good to see that you weathered the storm! I have been very concerned for all of you down there! Give Delaney and Landry a great big hug from QEA!

Martie ~

I told my boyfriend that this poem was inspired by a woman! ~ Wilma! lol ~ and my love for him...

His arms truly do provide a safe harbour for me when I am dealing with my life storms.

A very inspiring write, Linda.  Your golden pen still flows beautifully, I see.

Take care.......Sue

Inspiring Earth Angel, I never though for a second a mere hurricane could break that indomitable spirit of yours. :-)

Steven ~

Actually, I do not live in the area that was hit by the hurricane. I was just putting myself in that situation and writing about it.

Your sweet comment made me smile. Thank you!

It's good to hear from you! I haven't seen you around very much!

Loving arms encircling us can make even the most intolerable situations, tolerable. Fortunately, I live far from where the hurricane hit.

Love & Light,
EA

Dear Linda, sweet spirit, you conveyed something so intangible that so many poets strive to do...the contrast of the storm and the warmth of his arms.....just so fitting.  Much enjoyed this, dear one!   .......lily jo
