There will come a time of this
when blackberries will grow
like fists
staining our white picket fence
and will you love me then?

there will come a time of thus
tomatoes, on the stakes, they must
be watered twice a day or bust
or worms will enter in...

Oh will you love me then?

And when I'm old and fat and gray
and my rocker's rocked a sway
of groove before the hearth
and hey? Would you gather me my wood?

(You know I'd love you then...)

I will knit a woolly cap
for where your hair was once and that
is where my fingers trace the track
of my heartbeat on your head

lightly, as you sleep. (You drool.)

I kiss you, right there on your tooth.

You warm your hands within my old,

maps...

and will you love me then?

And when I'm 63?

You brought some wonderful memories
back to me...as you do...

Thank you, little one!

OMG. I had to stop reading right there and wipe away tears. This oh, so tender piece must have been written on moss growin' on those weary, New Orleans trees.
Keepin' this! luv ya, Chrislane

And now, I know you are psychic!

Loved this, Serenity!  So much love in your words.  You know, I heard some serious guitar pickin' behind the "lyrics" here -- seriously, it would make some great folk rock.   ...jojo

Will we be loved while charm fades on,
When life will pass from dawn to dawn.
Will we be roses, still bright with glow.
We make that day now, 'twas ever so.

Wonderful writing, I'm so glad you're back.  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
