Please understand that you will not find in me-
More than a misty moment of Spring.
That promise gone, as it must be-
It’s honeyed taste, still a sweet remembered thing.

Likewise, the Summer of my life has come and gone-
The days of budding fruit and learning lips-
When flowers knew their glory and my body danced along-
To shared music with easy-rolling hips.

You have come to me in Autumn-time-
My form is round and unashamed, a woman grown.
I offer you the flame-leafed fullness of  long-arbored wine-
All I was, and have become, I give to you alone.

Let Winter come in me, and in the land-
I am content and warm within your gaze.
I shall curl, cat-like beneath your gentle hand-
And not regret that springtime never stays.

I love the peace that eminates from this, "flame-leaf fullness" indeed. :-)

Wonderful write! And I love it because you have no regrets and you love yourself in the season of autumn. Your beautiful awareness of this precious time and your generosity in giving NOW is deeply touching.

Love,
Margherita

Sweetwater, Steven, Margherita, thanks so much for reading me and for finding something to like here.  I've been away for a long time and I wasn't sure I could still do right by words.

smiles,
Constance

Hi Martie!

Glad to be back.  I missed you.  I broke my "word bone" and it took a long time to heal.  In fact, it still smarts a bit, lol.

I know what you mean...I've broken mine a few times.  The only cure, is to write more!

Apparently you have matured, but certainly you have retained grace...that is proven by reading these words...It would be hard for a man to resist such a one that can write with such a sensual, honest flair...

Enjoyed the form and content of this poem.
